This is the southern end of US27 - beyond the intersection with Interstate 4 and encompasses a number of rental communities towards the Haines City and Lake Wales area. Properties here are set further back from the Orlando attractions, but benefit from newer developments in conservation areas. The offset of this is that shops and restaurants are predominantly towards Haines City and a car is essential. That said, the area is a must for golfers, with so many fantastic courses in the area to choose from.
Being located south of the attractions and within the Haines City limits, villas within the Southern Dunes Golf & Country Club benefit from three key points - they are alongside a PGA-rated championship golf-course (ideal if you are a golfer and do not want to walk far), there is a WalMart within walking distance (ideal if you like to shop) and thirdly, the peacefulness of the location.
As a gated community, the properties are a mixture of residential and short-term rentals, which make it safe to walk around or for the more energetic, jog. On the subject of active visitors, the community offers tennis courts, communal pools, a gym, a lake that can be fished and a children`s play area. For those on vacation, there is a clubhouse attached to the golf course which is open to the public for drinks and snacks.
Access through to the attractions is via Interstate 4, which also provides a good route to the restaurants and shops on US192 and beyond.
With a WalMart within walking distance, everything you will need is on your doorstep. If you just want to pop-in to pick something up, well there is also a Winn-Dixie also alongside.
Located around the Haines City are a number of eateries including Burger King, Taco Bell, Checkers, Beef O'Bradys, Dominos, Quiznos, MacDonalds and First Wok Chinese restaurant. Head back towards US192 for a plethora of restaurants, bars and crazy golf courses - to work all that food off.
